On November 20th a group of about 40 club members went for a tour of the Toyota plant in Cambridge. It was a very well organized tour. We learned a lot about how Toyota makes the Rav4 and Lexus NX and LX models in Canada. Toyota Canada was the first country to get the rights to build Lexus models outside of Japan.
I can tell you that it is the cleanest assembly plant I’ve ever seen! It was very interesting to see how they use robots to assist in the assembly process. They are clearly very devoted to their employees and pay close attention to the working conditions. There was no mess, no terrible smells, no chaos……everything was very efficient. We are still trying to figure out how they ensure that the doors that came off a specific car make it back to that car later in the process!
A big thank you to Dave Cook and Norm Malisani for taking the time to organize the tour and ensure that we all found our way there!
Here we are outside the plant waiting to get in.
