April  2020 – GHMA Club Update

The GHMA celebrated its 25th Anniversary of being a club! See how we started here: GHMA – Beginnings …

The year certainly has been challenging so far. In the grip of a Global Pandemic we switched to an online meeting format until it is safe to return to our regular physical monthly meetings. Stay Safe everyone.

August 25th 2018 – Woodward Ave Dream Cruise

Well folks, another Dream Cruise has come and gone and great fun was had by all.

Norm Smart Woodward 2018

I’d like to thank Norm Smart for arranging for our amazing group rate at the Auburn Hills Hilton yet again. Andrew Long for what I hope will be our first ANNUAL Games Night at the Hilton. I know that everyone who participated had a hilarious time. I’d also like to mention Stan Elsdon, Pete Pickering and Norm Malisani for setting up tours to Vanguard Motors and the Stahl Collection.

To all the members who made the trip I hope you had a great time, I know I did and I’m already looking forward to next year.

And to anyone who has ever doubted that Norm Smart is in fact Mister Woodward I give you Mustang and Fords coverage of the Woodward Dream Cruise pictures 71-73. Here he is with his fellow delinquent Howard Sims who spent much of Saturday keeping the water box wet. See link for more on Woodward 2018 – Mustangandfords.com

See you all at the next meeting!

June 19th 2018 – Jim King

I have sad news to report. Many of you know that Jim King was our first club President and that Jim, then a VP at Ford Canada, was instrumental in getting GHMA started. Jim passed away on Friday June 15th of a heart attack. Jim was a great guy, a lifetime GHMA member and a definite Ford/Mustang fanatic like a lot of us.

Jim came back to the club to help us out as our MC when we held our No Borders MCA show ten years ago and I like many others had visited Jim in his most recent hometown, Las Vegas. After retiring from Ford, Jim joined Shelby America as a team member and historian. In that role, Jim conducted some very special tours of Shelby for many GHMA members.

I don’t have any details for services as of now however; they are likely to be held either in Las Vegas or Vancouver.

On behalf of GHMA and myself, our sincere condolences to Jim’s family & friends.

Regards,

George O’ Hearn
GHMA Past President

January 9th 2018 – Website Security Update

Happy New Year everyone,

I wanted to let everyone know that during the busy holiday season our website was targeted by what is known as a “phishing” scam type hack.

We have quickly identified and stopped this attack.

Our website is fully secure.

No financial information has been compromised. Your payment information is handled offsite through secured Paypal and no credit card or banking details are stored on our site.

As a security precaution, we ask all our members to log in and change your passwords as soon as you can.

If you have any questions please let us know.

Thank you, stay safe and secure in 2018.

What is a “phishing” scam?

Everyone has seen these type of emails pop up in their inbox. Emails from unknown or seemingly legitimate organizations asking you to update or change your personal information by clicking on a link within these emails.

You should never open these emails or click on these links or respond to them. Immediately mark them as spam and delete them.

What the criminal hackers do is target legitimate websites like ours. Basically they use our legitimate website identifiers to bypass security and spam filters in order to send out their phishing emails.

These types of scams are unfortunately a “normal” criminal activity. Thousands of websites and email accounts are targeted every day.

Once again please do not open or click on any suspicious emails from anyone and update your passwords.
