Auto Insurance Changes – Ontario 2016 Onwards

Ontario Car Insurance changes for 2016. Explaining the details of the changes in a Q&A format.

Thanks to our guest speaker Justin James of the Co-Operators Insurance for a very informative talk.

Update August 30 2016:

Ontario is raising vehicle sticker renewal fees – please see article for more details: New Vehicle sticker renewal fees – Globe & Mail

“As of Sept. 1, renewal stickers in southern Ontario will cost $120 for the year, up from $108 currently. In northern Ontario, the fee rises to $60 from $54.

While a $12 increase may not seem hefty, the renewal price has almost doubled since 2011.

      • Sept. 1, 2011 – $74
      • Sept. 1, 2012 – $82
      • Sept. 1, 2013 – $90
      • Sept. 1, 2014 – $98
      • Sept. 1, 2015 – $108
      • Sept. 1, 2016 – $120″

These changes affect everyone involved in a vehicle, so be aware of what they mean in case of an accident whether it is minor or catastrophic.
